Day Three: The Rockies

Hello Everyone!!!

(I am doing two posts tonight...one for each day of our vacation, so be sure to read the post below this one...)

Yesterday, we headed out early to the mountains. On the way, we went around one of the loop roads in Banff...it was so beautiful outside, so we stopped to take a few photos...

Hannah was fascinated by the rocks...though the water was really cold!!! It had snowed a few days earlier, so all of the mountain peaks were snow capped.



After stopping, we were pleasantly surprised to run into a family of Rocky Mountain Sheep. They were just hanging out in the middle of the road...since we weren't going anywhere for a little bit, we took advantage of the photo-op...



They even had their baby with them...I love this time of the year!!!!



Our next stop was Moraine Lake. We hadn't been there before, since the auto-road is closed in the winter...it was well-worth the wait!!!!







Afterwards, we went on a suggestion from a college friend who lives out near Banff...she suggested that we go up the mountain in Lake Louise...they have a gondola that goes to mid-mountain...what a great suggestion!!!!






On the way up, we rode in one of the closed gondolas...we were told that there had been bear sightings, so we were excited to see a Grizzly and her two cubs...Craig and Fred took the open chair-lift down so they could get some good photos, and Hannah and I took the closed gondola back down.




We kept telling Fred about the Elk in Banff, so naturally, the trip was not going to be complete until we saw one...two seconds later, we saw this "little" lady hanging out in the trees...



Before we grabbed a quick dinner in Banff, the guys posed for one last shot...



We had such an AMAZING time!!! Thanks again Fred for coming up to see us...I hope we were good hosts...and to everyone else...see what you are missing??? Come up and visit!!!!
