Hannah's Cardiology Appointment

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Hello All-
Hopefully you have noticed that I am making several posts today...after you read this one, please scroll down and read the others.
Today Hannah had her Cardiology check-up at the Alberta Children's Hospital. She saw a new Cardiologist, since hers is on maternity leave.
(Sorry, Hannah just woke up from her nap, so I'll make this short and to the point)
After putting up a bit of a fight during her echo and EKG, they were able to get the images that they needed. They were quite pleased with her progress, and said that the "sloshing" that she has had right along in her heart is now gone!!! She still has her murmur, which they said she will probably always have. They also gave us a new weight goal. Once she hits 13 kg...28.6 lbs...she will be ready for her Fontan Operation. This was the first time that anyone had given us an actual weight. Other than that, everything else was the same. She did gain some weight since her last shots...about 3 weeks ago. We met with the Dietitian, and she was happy with Hannah's progress.
We were also able to get Hannah's RSV shot today, so we don't need to go back next week for it. This is a huge relief off of our shoulders!!! Hannah is great about her shots, but the hospital is a good 30 minutes away (with no traffic), and being able to get everything done at once is so much easier.
As a reward for being so good today, Hannah was treated to some Dietitian Approved Tim Bits (the same as Dunkin Donut's Munchkins). I think as soon as she took one bite, she forgot about what she had been through...
So, now we go back to see the new Cardiologist in 6 months, she has her next RSV shot on the 23rd of March, and we have her vaccinations in June...it is so nice to have a break in appointments!!!
I hope you are all well, and Happy Ash Wednesday!!!!
Love,
Sharon
