SYSCO Kids Holiday Party

Hey Everyone!!!
Well, it is still freezing outside!!! According to our thermometer (which is in the direct sun), it is negative 8 Celsius outside right now. Online, it says that it is negative 20 F in the city...without the windchill figured in. Considering how frigid it is, we've been doing pretty well. The cars have been starting (with a little help from our block heaters), and we've kept pretty warm inside, despite some drafty windows. The only issue we've had so far was when our backdoor lock froze up. Nothing a little lock de-icer couldn't fix!!! We've been keeping an eye on some of the windows that have ice on the inside, but otherwise, we're just expecting a monster heating bill this month!!!
So, rather than stay all bundled up inside, yesterday we headed off to the SYSCO Kids Holiday Party. This was our first one, so we weren't sure what to expect. Hannah had a blast!!!
As soon as she walked in, she noticed our friend Joanne. The two of them had to check out all of the games...Hannah was a big fan of the ones that had lots of blinking lights and noises.
Then it was Daddy's turn to go for a walk with Hannah...
Hannah loves other children! Because she is home with me all day, we were always worried about her social skills...as you can see, she has no problem with other kids!!!
She wanted to go in the bounce house so badly, but Craig and I were both a 'wee' bit too big to fit in it with her...so, Joanne's daughter, who is small enough, took Hannah in. She had so much fun that she cried when she came out! The other kids were great too...they all got out for a few minutes so Hannah could play.
Before we headed off to see the other games, Hannah had to pose for a photo with Joanne. We are so lucky to have Joanne in our lives! She is the only person who has ever watched Hannah since we moved to Calgary. Though she will never replace my Mom or Craig's Mom, it is nice to have a 'Grandmotherly' figure for Hannah up here. She spoils her rotten, and Hannah adores her. It is so nice to have someone up here that we trust so much with our little one!!!
Then it was off to the giant foam play structure. Hannah was having so much fun with the other kids...until one of them got a bit rough. It is funny, the older kids were so gentle with her...it was another kid her age that was the bully!!!
"All of this playing makes me tired!!"
Time to see Santa!!!!
Hannah wasn't nervous about Santa at all. I was bummed that she was so interested in his beard, because I couldn't get a good photo of her on his lap. Considering that this was her first encounter with a 'real' Santa, we were so proud of how well she did!!!

Hannah really decided that she liked the big guy, when he gave her a present!
It was quite impressive...every kid got a present and got to sit with Santa. The presents were also impressive! Some of the kids got Crayola drawing kits, others got Elmo dolls...I even saw a little girl open up a ballerina dress-up set, complete with bar and mirror!!!
Hannah got a really cool Fisher Price CD Player. It plays nursery rhymes and makes animal noises. She loves it!!!! Originally we thought we would put her down for a nap when we got home, but she was so happy playing with her new toy that we didn't have the heart to take it away.
All in all, it was a great day! Today we have to go to Alberta Children's Hospital for Hannah's first RSV shot of the season. she had vaccinations last week and was all out of sorts afterwards, so we are hoping for a better outcome this time!!!
I hope you all had a great weekend, and I'll write more soon!!!
Love,
Sharon
